Teaming up with our sister company, Absolute Signs and Graphics, we were asked to update the tower with Flybe’s new distinctive purple branding. We created the visual from architectural drawings and got to work! We installed a brand new internally illuminated Flybe logo to the Air Traffic Control Tower in time for the start of its winter operations.
Bringing the brand to life
Our installation team used high level access equipment to access the top of the tower. There are only three vehicles in the UK that could reach 43 metres and carry the installation team. The logo is lit by LED lights from inside. LED lights give an evenly bright output that is both low voltage and water resistant; perfect for the exposed position on the side of the tower.
Floodlights were covered in a coloured gel to bathe the tower in Flybe’s new brand purple. The tower is at the heart of Flybe’s operations and completes a consistent application of its new branding throughout the airport: first the Terminal and now the exterior of the airport.
What the client thought
“Birmingham Airport’s ATC tower is the very heart of operations at this vital hub for Flybe. We wanted to establish a really strong branding presence and make our customers’ journey with us a truly consistent one. The illumination of the tower is the finishing touch to bring the power of Flybe purple to our Birmingham customers.”
